Principal’s Message

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

Would You Like To Take A Walk With Me?

Nothing annoys me more when a scowling adult shakes their head in disapproval and says, “Kids these days!!!

When I hear that, I just want to reply with a shout,, “Yes, kids these days! They are amazing! Why don’t you take a positivity walk with me, and you will see.”

Are you ready?

It begins as soon as I enter the front door of the school every morning. Without fail, a polite eighth grade student greets me with a smile, bids me good morning, and opens the door for me. As I pass the 600 hall, I can hear the angelic voices of the choir singing, as well as the band and orchestra students diligently practicing for their upcoming winter concerts.

Moving on, I glance into the gym to see students participating in a positive, competitive game of basketball.

As I pass the library, I see a room of engaged students who are eager to find their next book. I see students in the English and social studies hallways presenting creative projects to their classmates, and I see math and science students engaged in solving problems and analyzing research to write their Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning statements.

As I continue into the 200 hallway, art students are immersed in creating impressive works of art, and the robotic students are busily constructing and programming their robots on a whole new level.

But, wait. The walk does not end at school. As I leave the building, on any given day, Student Council, Colorguard, cheerleaders, athletes, club members…they are all preparing for upcoming performances, competitions, and community events.

So, I hope your walk around the school showed you why I just want to shout, “These kids are amazing!” We only have to take a walk around the Greenspun campus to see an absolutely wonderful group of students who represent “Kids these days!”
