Casandra Iglitz Assistant Principal

Welcome Casandra Iglitiz! Casandra Iglitz joins the Greenspun family as the newest assistant principal in the Student Success Center.   She has lived in the Henderson community since 1999.  Cassandra is a three-time UNLV graduate with degrees in Special Education and Education and Policy Leadership.  She has taught in CCSD for over 20 years in elementary and secondary settings.  Casandra says, “I am excited to collaborate closely with our talented educators to ensure our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college or careers.  In my free time, I am usually volunteering for the National Charity League with my two daughters or attending baseball games with my family.   I am extremely excited to be a part of the Greenspun family." Welcome, Casandra!

Robotics TEAM A & TEAM B REPRESENT US AT THE CREATE US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP IN IOWA MARCH 17-21: Phenomenal does not begin to describe the 3 days of competition with these 2 amazing teams! Over the competition the battled against teams from all over the United States, China, Canada, Australia, France, and more! Filled with the Spirit of Competition they won the booth decorating competition and both teams made it to finals. Team A not only received an invitation to be judged which means they were up for an award, they were interviewed a total of 3 times and they took their physical notebook back to review which means they were closely considered for a top award. They embraced the fun mega alliance challenge, and supported each other through highs (scores in the 145+) and lows (a metal bar snapped and they had to rebuild their drivetrain 5 minutes before their match along with their bucket malfunctioning). So proud of them all and had a blast celebrating them with their awesome parents, some here and some from home!

TEAM A IS HEADED TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN DALLAS, TEXAS

We are thrilled to announce that Team A received their invitation to the VEX World Championships while at the US Open! This team is simply extraordinary. They are a true team completely focused on our motto “better together”. Judges are in awe of their interviews, coaches and event partners seek me out to tell me stories of how they help and mentor teams while they are competing. I am constantly stopped with tales of their respect and kindness during events, on top of the fact they are extraordinary engineers. They run our entire team and I never need to ask for help because they anticipate it. The Henderson Chamber of Commerce even had this group design and build their “ChadGPT” to help them at their State of the Chamber event this year. We now have the extraordinary task of fundraising $10,000 by April 30 to get them to Worlds. If you would like to help you can donate here https://gofund.me/72cbe965 or with our school banker. We look forward to them representing Greenspun, Henderson, and Nevada at the largest robotics competition in the WORLD with 50 states and over 50 nations. Go Dolphins!

Straight O Reward: ATTENTION Quarter 4 Straight"O" Students! We will be celebrating your outstanding citizenship on April 12th during your lunch. If you have not picked up your Quarter 4 sticker, stop by and see Ms. Lopez. The Quarter 4 sticker will be required to receive your Straight "O" treats. Great job, and see you on the 12th of April.

SBAC Testing: Starting April 3, 2024, Greenspun Junior High School students will participate in the Nevada Smarter Summative Assessments in the ELA and Math content areas. Eighth-grade students will participate in the Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT) in the science content area. These assessments measure individual student achievement on the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS) in English Language Arts/literacy (ELA), mathematics, and science.

We strongly need your child’s participation to help our school receive “high performance” on the Nevada Star Rating System.  Your cooperation in assisting the school with this achievement is greatly appreciated.  Please click here for more information.

Kona Ice: Kona Ice is coming to Greenspun on Friday, April 5th during all 3 lunches.

Soccer: Home games are free of charge. Students receiving O’s third quarter are allowed to attend the games without a parent or guardian. All other students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The school requires students to show IDs to enter the game. This helps prevent our soccer games from becoming a hangout and having visitors deal with disruptive behaviors. Families and visitors, please come out and cheer on our teams as they strive for a season of wins. We hope to see you!

Save the Date: 8th Grade End of Year Events. In order for 8th students to attend these events they must remain free from SSC infractions for 4th quarter. (In-House or Suspension).
