Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

What a wonderful feeling to be greeted by cool weather when I walked into the school’s courtyard today. As Laura Ingalls Wilder, children’s author, expressed, “Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.”

Perhaps Wilder has never been to Las Vegas in the summer to know that it is the relentless rays of the summer heat that is hard to beat, but nevertheless, the summer sun has finally subsided, and the long-awaited beauty of the fall season has arrived.

Oftentimes, we get so immersed in our daily routines and responsibilities that we don’t even take a moment to notice the change. Transporting children to school activities, making it to work each day, taking care of loved ones, preparing family dinners…the list goes on and on.

But, it only takes a minute to stop, pause, and enjoy what I call a “me moment.” Taking the time to get a breath of fresh air throughout the hustle and bustle of our daily lives is an important part of rejuvenating our minds.

I am sure that “me moments” look different for each of us, but whatever the look and no matter how busy we are, it is important to schedule “me moments”  into our daily lives.

So if, by chance, someone tries to interrupt our moment,, we can simply hold up a sign that reads, “Do not Disturb. Me Moment in Progress.”

By taking time for ourselves, we will be better equipped to take time for others.
