Principal's Message
WE ARE GREENSPUN
As I stood in front of the school welcoming students to the 24-25 school year, I couldn’t help but think about how quickly time passes. I know it’s a cliche, but it seems like yesterday that I was standing in the same place last year congratulating students on successfully completing the school year as they said goodbye for the summer.
Another year of students walking through that same front door…the question is…what can we do to make this the best year ever? We spend a lot of time at school, and my goal is for our students to look forward to coming to school each day so they can learn from their teachers, visit with friends, and participate in the extracurricular activities that they love.
It all begins with taking pride in embracing a simple, but powerful philosophy. As we make our way through the challenges of each day, we can achieve success because “WE ARE GREENSPUN!”
This means at Greenspun, we are respectful; we are responsible; we are safe. Just think how positive our school experience would be if we treat each other with respect, if we fulfill our daily responsibilities; and if we make it a priority to follow school procedures and practices designed to keep us safe.
Welcome to the start of an amazing school year! We are looking forward to the best school year ever!
Events & Honors:
Open House: Greenspun will host Open House on Thursday, August 22, from 6-8pm. More information is coming soon!
Signal Blocking Cell Phone Pouches: Clark County School District has mandated that secondary students use non-locking, signal blocking cell phone pouches. Greenspun Junior High School will be assigning each student a cell phone pouch by the end of the first week of school. Students will keep their pouch for the school year. Students are expected to put their phone in the cell phone pouch and keep them in their backpack or bag (out of sight) during all instructional times. Students may have access to their phones at lunch. Cell phone pouches will be collected at the end of the school year. Students who do not have their assigned pouch during collection will be assigned at $15 fee. Please see the link for information about the CCSD cell phone pouch policy. https://ccsd.net/district/backtoschool/signal-blocking.html
ID Cards and Lanyards: Clark County School District has mandated that secondary students wear a school ID while at school. All Greenspun students will receive a school ID and lanyard on the first day of school. Students will be expected to wear their ID in a visible location at all times while at school (except during PE). Starting Tuesday, August 13, students will need to wear their ID in a visible location in order to come into the school. Students will receive a second ID on picture day, Thursday, August 15. If a student does not have their ID, they will need to purchase a replacement (ID $1, lanyard $1). Please see the link for information about the CCSD ID policy. https://ccsd.net/district/backtoschool/student-ID.html
