Be kind. We hear these words on a daily basis.The question is…do we really know how powerful these words are? Do we really take the time throughout the day to say a kind word or perform a kind act for someone who needs encouragement, a smile, or just a little help?
Although some would classify kindness quotes merely as cliches, these adages serve to remind us of the power of kind words and deeds.
If we are asking for the world to be kind, we must first ask what we are doing to add more kindness to the world. - Joel Leon
I encourage each of us to be slow to anger, exercise patience, and most of all, to be kind. Kindness matters because, simply put, it can make the world a better place.
Events & Honors:
Spelling Bee: Congratulations to our grade level Spelling Bee winners, Julien Lingat, Red Raven Vales, and Jayce Levy! The grade level winners advance to the quarterfinal round in September!

School Based Emergency Operations Plan: Nevada Revised Statute 388.226-388.266 requires each site to annually review and update their School Based Emergency Operations Plan. Greenspun has completed this review and has updated the plan. All required elements have been included and are in compliance. For more information, please visit the Chapter 388- System of Public Instruction website.
Flag Football: We are looking forward to our upcoming flag football season starting Tuesday, August 29th versus Fertitta. Just a friendly reminder that all students who wish to attend the game must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Admission is free - let’s go Dolphins!
Jedi Academy Club: The Jedi Academy club will be having its first meeting of the year after school until 3:15 on Wednesday August 30th in room 338. See you there, and may the Force be with you!
NJHS: National Junior Honor Society Meeting August 31st from 2:15pm - 3:00pm in room 100.
Scholastic Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to GJHS August 31 through September 8! ALL proceeds fund the prizes and incentives for Reading Achievement at Greenspun. Please visit the Library website for more information, and volunteer sign-ups!

Boba Fridays! Get your Boba Fix during all three lunches every Friday to support your Greenspun Robotics Program! Enjoy this refreshing Friday treat and help us fund our robotics program.
Birthday Greetings: Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school? For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day. All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities. Attendance Office: Please be sure to submit your child’s absences within 3 days by going to the Attendance Icon and filling out the form.
Infinite Campus Parent portal/Student portal: Parents, please continue to monitor your child’s grades in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need an activation code, please contact the office for assistance.
School Organizational Team: Hello Greenspun families! My name is Sharee Bennecke and I am the Chairperson of the SOT committee at Greenspun for the last two school years. I am reaching out to let you know that nominations for SOT parent members start Monday August 28 through Friday September 1st.
I am asking you to please nominate yourself or another parent if you are available to attend every meeting once a month for the school year. We truly need parents who can attend every meeting in person. Our meetings are held once a month usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday at 2:30 in the library.
