Principal's Message
I experienced a really happy moment at our Valentine’s Day dance this week, and I just want to share it with you.
Picture walking into a school dance in the cafeteria. The sounds of a Bruno Mars song fills the room. Kids are in the middle of the floor smiling, singing along with the DJ, dancing, and just having good-old fashion fun!
Granted, it always makes me happy when I see kids having fun, but this moment was extra special. This was a moment in time when kids were having fun because they were not glued to their cell phones.
With the support of our amazing Student Council, we informed students that we would not allow cell phones during the dance. The goal was to give them the opportunity to have fun without the fear of someone recording them and sharing the videos on social media.
I wasn’t sure how kids would react to an hour or so without their cell phones. So, when I walked into the dance that day and saw a wonderful picture of good old-fashion fun, it brought joy to my heart, and I just wanted to share the moment with you. I think it would have made you happy, too!

Greenspun JHS Reading Week: Greenspun will celebrate Reading Week Feb. 26 - March 1 with lots of fun activities, contests, dress-up days, and the Spring Book Fair! Parents, please CLICK HERE to volunteer at the Spring Book Fair!Â
IDs/Lanyards: Dolphins have been doing an amazing job having their IDs/lanyards on throughout the entire school day for the safety of all at Greenspun. Effective 2024-2025, all CCSD schools will be mandating IDs/Lanyards. Parents, please continue to ensure that all students have their IDs/Lanyards on before leaving home.
Tardy Progressive Discipline Effective Quarter 4: Beginning Quarter 4, Monday, March 18, 2024, Greenspun will utilize the following progressive discipline model for tardies for each individual class.

Lost and Found: All unclaimed items in the lost and found in the Student Success Center and Cafeteria will be donated at the end of Quarter 3.
Guitar Club: Do you like music? Do you want to jam out with your friends? Maybe even learn to play guitar? Come down to room 122 on February 13th for guitar club! No sign up is needed, though you will need a guitar in order to play. If you wish to just hang out, that is cool too! You have to bring your own guitar, and for electric guitars, amp and cord to play. We meet every Tuesday after school. Any questions? Email Ms. Smith @smithsm6@nv.ccsd.net. See you there!
Soccer Tryouts: Boys and Girls soccer tryouts are February 26th-28th from 2:15-3:30 pm on the school soccer field. You must have completed registration on aktivate.com in order to try out!
Intramural practices will be every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting Tuesday, February 6th after school from 2:15-3:30 pm. Please come dressed in school appropriate sports attire. Please bring shin guards and water.
Running Club: ATTENTION!!! Running Club has changed it's start date. We will be starting on Tuesday, February 20th, instead of February 13th. Please see Ms. Lopez if you have any questions.
Webstore: The GJHS webstore will be down through the end of January for service and software upgrades. ALL payments would need to be made directly to the Banker’s office in cash only. Communication will be sent to all Greenspun families once the newly upgraded webstore system is available.Â
Absence notes: Parents, please submit absence notes within three days, by clicking on the Attendance icon on our home page at greenspunjhs.com.Â
BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ARE BACK!: Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school? For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day. All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities. CLICK HERE to submit a birthday greeting for your child!
