Principal's Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

Hello Parents,

I just want to celebrate a successful first week of school! I loved seeing smiling, but sleepy, students walk through our doors on the first day of school. Hopefully, they will adjust to their new sleep schedule soon.

Although it was hectic, we worked as a team to resolve daily issues that normally occur during the beginning of the year. I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our students, staff, and parents for their patience and flexibility as everyone assisted students in settling into their new routines.

Your child's safety is our number one priority, so we are asking for your patience and cooperation when dropping off or picking up your child.

Cones are placed at the top of the school driveway from 1:50 pm - 2:20 PM in order to allow students to safely cross the parking lot without the worry of approaching traffic.

In addition, please help us to keep our students safe and avoid traffic accidents and tickets.

Refrain from…

  • illegal u-turns in the middle of Valle Verde in front of the school

  • illegal turning in gated community entrances

  • Illegal parking in the fire lane adjacent to the sports field

If you are picking up a child in the back of the school, you must wait for all buses to leave before you exit the parking lot and be aware that it is a right turn only onto Valle Verde.

I know that we all share a common goal—that is to keep our students safe as they travel to and from school. Therefore, I am asking you, our school community, to follow proper traffic protocols and exercise patience as you drop off and pick up your child each day.

Events & Honors:

MAP Testing: Greenspun JHS students will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or tablet on August 14 through 25 . MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.

MAP Growth tests are unique and adapt to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.

We are excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit.

School Performance Plan Act 1: Greenspun JHS School Performance Plan is viewable on the school’s website by clicking on the "Plans of Operation" icon. The plan identifies goals, measurable objectives, and action steps designed to increase the achievement of all students. Annual plans are prepared in compliance with the Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 385.357.
