Principal's Message

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

On behalf of the Greenspun staff and administration, we wish you a Happy New Year filled with new achievements, new goals, new inspiration, and plenty of success and joy! In other words, we wish you the best year ever!!!

As we approach the new semester, we will continue to work with you and your children to ensure that they are provided with ample opportunities for success and academic progress. Our counselors will check in with them to make sure they are on-track and have the necessary tools to successfully complete the second half of the school year.

However, it is the students who hold the most important tool that will play a major role in their success. That tool is preparedness. Students must come to school prepared. Walking into their classes on time with a charged Chromebook, school supplies, and their IDs and lanyards allows them to begin each class on a positive note. It allows them to keep up with instruction, complete assignments on time, and score higher on assessments. But, most importantly, students will see first-hand that the rewards of proper preparation is success.

Welcome new staff members! Greenspun is very excited to announce that we have added two new assistant principals to our administrative team.  Please welcome Adam Berger and Vincent Bognot to Greenspun!   CLICK HERE to learn more about them

Webstore:  The GJHS webstore will be down through the end of January for service and software upgrades.  ALL payments would need to be made directly to the Banker’s office in cash only.  Communication will be sent to all Greenspun families once the newly upgraded webstore system is available.

Grading Policy Update: In order to assist students in preparing for their future endeavors and in becoming responsible citizens, Greenspun has changed the late work policy.  Students will now have five school days from when the assignment is due to submit their missing work. Students may submit late work without a penalty during the five-day grace period. Teachers will not grade work submitted after the five-day window. CLICK HERE for the GJHS Grading Policy.

School IDs and Lanyards: As part of Greenspun’s school-wide safety plan, students must wear their school IDs and lanyards daily.  No students will be admitted to class without them. Students who forgot or lost either of these items, can purchase them in The Student Success Office or Library before or after school, as well as during their lunch period.

Since the school’s web store is currently unavailable, students will have to pay with cash. The cost is $1.00 for each item. Students who do not have an ID and lanyard will receive instruction in our In-House program until they are able to obtain their IDs and/or lanyard.

Please contact the office if you have questions or concerns.

Cheer: Congratulations to the Varsity Cheerleaders for winning the NCA Virtual Championship over winter break. They received first place in Intermediate Crowd Leading and a bid to NCA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. Wish them luck this weekend when they compete in the USA Competition at Desert Oasis HS, and when they represent Greenspun in Texas on January 20th and 21st.

Vision, Hearing, Height and Weight Screening: January 8th and 9th

In accordance with Senate Bill 2 (2021), the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requires Clark County School District to collect a random sample of height and weight information to report on child obesity rates. There will also be a vision and hearing screening conducted at the same time.

  • Vision, hearing, height, and weight screening will be conducted in your child’s school on January 8th and 9th. Student groups selected for the screening were determined by DHHS as a representative sample of students in Grade 7. The screening results will be reported to the DHHS, who shall compile the information in order to monitor the health status of Nevada children. Identifying information relating to individual children will be excluded from any state reporting requirements.

  • The procedure for screening follows the recommendations of the Nevada State Health Division. School nurses and trained ancillary personnel will complete the screenings.

  • You will be notified only if a medical follow-up is recommended for your child. This screening does not replace your child’s need for regular health care and check ups.

  • If you do not want your child to complete the screening at school, please provide your child's name and student number, and state that they should not participate in the screening via email or phone.

  • Please contact the school nurse at (702) 799-0920 ext 4021 or email ebertr@nv.ccsd.net if you have any questions about this requirement or wish to decline the screening.
