Principal’s Message:

Greenspun Welcomes Fifth Graders
Meeting our fifth grade elementary students at our annual Incoming Sixth Grade Assembly is one of the best parts of being the principal of Greenspun Junior High School. Watching their wide-eyed expressions as they filled our gym and catching their first glimpse of middle school life made it impossible not to smile.
Thanks to our incredible Student Council, along with the GJHS band, choir, orchestra, cheerleaders, colorguard, and robotics students, our six feeder elementary schools were treated to an hour of outstanding performances. The talent on display truly highlighted the many opportunities waiting for our incoming sixth graders at Greenspun.
I loved seeing our students shine and feeling the excitement and school spirit from the fifth graders in the audience. Moments like these are powerful reminders of just how special our students are and how meaningful this next step is for them.
I was especially proud of how welcoming our Greenspun students were and how respectful, attentive, and enthusiastic the younger students were in return. Watching those connections form is exactly why days like this mean so much.
A big thank-you to our amazing GJHS students and to our feeder elementary schools—Bartlett, Cox, Gibson, Estes McDoniel, Nate Mack, and Kesterson. They were a wonderful audience, and I look forward to seeing them back at Greenspun this fall!
Events & Honors:
Sphere Design Competition: Congratulations to 8th grader Cody Lam, whose sphere design was chosen by the Sphere design contest organizers as one of the top 30 finalists in the 3rd annual EXO design challenge! Cody's design was chosen from thousands across the entire school district. In addition to a special unveiling of the winners' art on Exosphere on March 11th – just in time for Pi Day – the four winners from elementary and middle school will earn a $10,000 donation from Sphere to their school’s art program and tickets for their ENTIRE school to attend The Wizard of Oz at Sphere or another Sphere Experience. Please vote for Cody's design every day from February 5th through February 27. You can vote once every day! Let's go Cody!

Military Families: The Nevada Purple Star Schools Award program is designed to help schools respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school and keep them on track to be college, workforce, and life-ready. This designation helps military-connected families identify which schools in their community have taken extra steps to fully support military connected families.Greenspun is adding this new resource that our families can access beginning next school year. If your family is part of the military or you would like to be part of this program, please visit the Military Families information page on our Greenspun website for additional information. You can also complete a short questionnaire. We would love to hear from you!
SBAC Test Prep: It’s time to dive into test prep, Dolphins! We're in the final stretch of the road to proficiency, and we want YOU to start showing off your test-taking skills. Every Tuesday for the first ten minutes of a randomly selected period, every class will complete today’s Ticket of the Day. At that time, you will open your student homepage and click on the SBAC Test Prep Tuesday icon. Remember, these tickets help us sharpen our reasoning skills and show off what Greenspun Dolphins know and can do! Each student who answers BOTH questions will be entered into a drawing for a prize. When you hear the announcement, Dive in, Dolphins!”
