Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci. GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci. GJHS Principal

Oftentimes, when people discover that I am a principal, they shake their heads in disapproval and say, “Kids these days. I don’t know how you deal with them.”

Fiercely protective of my Greenspun students, I shake my head right back and exclaim, “I, respectfully, disagree with you. Kids these days are amazing!

Although I could give many, many examples of our amazing kids, this week I want to recognize an extraordinary group of students who remind us all what dedication, character, and teamwork truly look like — our Greenspun Robotics teams.

This Friday and Saturday, the Greenspun Junior High School Robotics Teams and their advisor, Ms. Casey Juliano, will host the 2026 VEX IQ Nevada State Middle School Championship, welcoming more than 40 of the top middle school teams in the state. Greenspun is proud to have six teams qualified — the most of any school in Nevada — a reflection of the strength of our program and the growth of STEM across CCSD.

While we are incredibly proud of our teams’ competitive success, including last year’s VEX IQ World Championship Excellence Award, what stands out most is the character of these students.

For weeks, they’ve been preparing for this prestigious robotics competition — organizing the event, checking equipment, and making sure every visiting team feels welcome. Hosting a state championship is a major undertaking, and they have handled it with responsibility and a work ethic that doesn’t quit.

Just as impressive is how they compete. Our robotics students are known for their willingness to help other teams troubleshoot coding issues, repair robots, and problem-solve, even when those teams are their competitors. That kind of sportsmanship speaks volumes.

There’s a lot said about young people today. What I see in these young humans is determination, initiative, and kindness. I could not be more proud of how these kids represent our school.

We wish every team the very best this weekend, and we thank our robotics students for showing all of us that “kids these days” are truly amazing!

Events & Honors:

Choir Festival: Congratulations to the Beginning Choir students on an awesome performance at Intermediate Choir Festival on Thursday, February 26th. They sang beautifully during their on stage as well as sang their sight reading skills with 100% accuracy! They received SUPERIOR RATINGS in both!

PBIS: Students can earn Dolphin Dollar tickets when teachers or administrators recognize respectful, responsible, and safe behavior. Each ticket can be entered into our weekly prize drawing. Beginning Tuesday, students may bring their tickets to the library and place them in the designated buckets for a chance to win prizes. Positive behavior = more tickets = more chances to win!

SBAC Test Prep: It’s time to dive into test prep, Dolphins! We're in the final stretch of the road to proficiency, and we want YOU to start showing off your test-taking skills. Every Tuesday for the first ten minutes of a randomly selected period, every class will complete today’s Ticket of the Day. At that time, you will open your student homepage and click on the SBAC Test Prep Tuesday icon. Remember, these tickets help us sharpen our reasoning skills and show off what Greenspun Dolphins know and can do! Each student who answers BOTH questions will be entered into a drawing for a prize. When you hear the announcement, Dive in, Dolphins!”

NJHS SBAC Tutoring: With SBAC testing coming up, NJHS is starting a Student Tutoring Club next week to help you feel prepared and confident. Students will be tutoring other students in math, reading, writing, and helpful test taking strategies. If you want extra practice or support before the test, this is a great opportunity to get ready and do your best. See Mrs. Hoeg in room 323 for details.

STUCO Spirit Week: Happy March. It’s Spirit week March 9-13th. Help make the day fun by joining us for crazy dress up days. Looking forward to seeing your crazy spirit Dolphins!
