Principal's Message

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

Our Fine Arts students did it again! There are not enough adjectives to describe their awesome, excellent, outstanding, superb performance at Greenspun’s annual Fine Arts Assembly this week.

As the art department, band, choir, orchestra, and color guard came together to present a showcase of their outstanding talent, I couldn’t stop smiling because each of their performances warmed my heart and reminded me how talented and amazing these kids are!

I have said this countless times and am saying it again. “These kids are second to none! I am honored and blessed to be their principal!”

This message is dedicated to all of the Performing Art students, their parents, and their teachers.

Students, thank you for your dedication and strong work ethic as you spend endless hours preparing for your excellent performances.

Parents, thank you for your support and the endless hours you spend making sure your children are prepared with the “behind-the-scene” necessities.

Fine Arts teachers, thank you for making it all happen. Without you and your assistants, our Performing Arts Program would not be top-notch, and there would be no Fine Arts Week.

So, a very special thank you goes out to each of you: David Martinez, Band, assisted by Jordan Miller; Heather Scobie, Choir, assisted by Kelly Ray; Sheila Davis, Orchestra, assisted by Michael Spicer; Amy Reusch, Art; and Sadie Floyd and Brittany Whitlow, Color Guard.

Thank you all for filling our hearts with wonderful music!

Events & Honors:

SBAC Testing: Starting April 3, 2024, Greenspun Junior High School students will participate in the Nevada Smarter Summative Assessments in the ELA and Math content areas. Eighth-grade students will participate in the Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT) in the science content area. These assessments measure individual student achievement on the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS) in English Language Arts/literacy (ELA), mathematics, and science.

We strongly need your child’s participation to help our school receive “high performance” on the Nevada Star Rating System.  Your cooperation in assisting the school with this achievement is greatly appreciated. Please click here for more information.

Soccer: The 2023-2024 Greenspun JHS soccer season is here! The girls and boys soccer teams won both their pre-season games this past week. The boys team defeated Fertitta 8-1 and Cram 9-1. The girls team defeated Fertitta 4-0 and Cram 8-0. Come out and support your Greenspun dolphins next week as they face Miller on Tuesday, March 26th at home! Boys start at 4:15 pm and girls start at 5:15 pm.

Home games are free of charge. Students receiving O’s third quarter are allowed to attend the games without a parent or guardian. All other students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The school requires students to show IDs to enter the game. This helps prevent our soccer games from becoming a hangout and having visitors deal with disruptive behaviors. Families and visitors, please come out and cheer on our teams as they strive for a season of wins. We hope to see you!
