Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

It is with great pride that I dedicate this message to our amazing Performing Arts students after their exceptional performance at Greenspun’s Annual Fine Arts Concert.

It is difficult to put into words just how impressive their performances were. Whether it was band, choir, orchestra, or color guard, every group brought something special to the stage. I found myself in awe the entire time, just taking in how talented and dedicated our students are.

One of my favorite moments of the concert was the final performance, when all three groups came together for “The Final Countdown.” What a treat that was. Seeing so many students collaborating and performing together with such energy made for an excellent and memorable ending to the concert.

I’d also like to thank our incredible Performing Arts teachers and staff: Ms. Heather Scobie, choir director, and her assistant, Kelly Ray; David Martinez, band director, and his assistant, Jordan Miller; Sheila Davis, orchestra director; and Kate Litzenberg, Color Guard advisor. Their hard work and commitment to our students truly make experiences like this possible.

I say this often because it’s true—our students are second to none. The effort they put in behind the scenes shows every time they step on stage.

To our performers and our audience, thank you for a wonderful morning. Moments like this are a great reminder of how special our school community is, and I am proud to be your principal.

Community-Based Instruction (CBI) Trip: We are excited to share that our self-contained classes recently participated in a Community-Based Instruction (CBI) trip! This experience provided our students with valuable real-world learning opportunities in a fun and supportive environment. During the trip, students practiced important life and social skills, including:

  • Safely crossing the street and being aware of their surroundings

  • Managing and budgeting their money

  • Demonstrating patience and taking turns

  • Staying with the group and following directions

  • Using appropriate behavior in stores and public places

Our students did an outstanding job representing our school. We are very proud of their effort, teamwork, and positive attitudes throughout the trip. Experiences like these help build independence, confidence, and real-world readiness. We look forward to providing more opportunities for hands-on learning beyond the classroom. Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs!
