Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

Spring is that time of year when the grass is green, the flowers are blooming, and the warmer weather brings the anticipation of summer vacation. However, the change of seasons also brings major dress code concerns.

That is why Greenspun, along with all the other CCSD schools, has a dress code policy. Although our school is a casual place for students, it is important for them to recognize that they should dress differently when they are at school than when they are going to the beach, the mall, a party, or just hanging out with friends at their favorite places.

Whenever we expect students to follow the dress code policy, it is also important for them to understand why. We have a dress code policy to ensure that our students present themselves in a professional way, even if it’s casual, because we want them to recognize the importance of dressing for the occasion – in this case – school.

Parents, we need your support. Please review the Greenspun Dress Code policy below with your teens and remind them to dress appropriately for school as they step into spring and ready themselves for the end of a successful school year.

  • Shirts must be long enough to cover a student's mid-section.

  • Shirts must cover the shoulder by 3 inches

  • Content (words or pictures) on clothing must be appropriate

  • Skirts, shorts, dresses must be mid-thigh (no spandex shorts that require adjusting to meet the mid-thigh requirement)

  • No undergarments showing of any kind

  • Holes in pants must be no higher than mid-thigh

  • No hats, hoods, or hair grooming aides

  • No sagging pants, tank tops, crop tops

  • No sunglasses, including wearing them on your head

  • No wallet chains, safety pins, spike and studded jewelry; they are safety hazards

Postural Screening: Postural screening, as required by Nevada State Law, will be conducted by school nurses in your child’s school on Friday April 4, 2025; this screening is only for 6th grade girls and 8th grade boys. The purpose of postural screening is to detect signs of abnormal spinal development so that the need for treatment can be determined. For this screening, boys and girls will be seen separately. Privacy will be maintained within the constraints of the school setting. Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. Most cases of spinal curvature are mild, but may become progressively more severe as the child continues to grow. Early treatment can prevent the development of a severe deformity, which can later affect the health and appearance of the child. You will be notified only if a possible abnormality is observed and follow-up is necessary. This screening does not replace your child’s need for regular health care and check-ups. If you do not want your child to have a postural screening at school, please notify the school nurse at ebertr@nv.ccsd.net. Thank you
