Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

One of the best parts of being a principal is getting to know our students and the experiences that shape who they are. Many of our students come from military families—young people who have handled long separations, moved between schools, and adjusted to new environments with strength and maturity.

Those experiences are exactly why April 1, 2026, meant so much to our school community. On that day, Greenspun Junior High School reached an important milestone as we celebrated our designation as a Purple Star School. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting military-connected students and creating a school culture where they feel welcomed.

We were honored to hear from our student Kaos Castilliano and his family, a military family who shared their story with us and reminded the audience how important it is to create a sense of belonging for our military students. We also appreciated the opportunity to welcome State Superintendent Dr. Victor Wakefield, who presented our Purple Star banner in recognition of the work happening here at Greenspun, as well as CCSD Board of Trustee member Ramona Esparza-Stoffregan, who presented a Certificate of Recognition to our school on behalf of Mayor Michelle Romereo and the City of Henderson.

This recognition reflects an important part of our philosophy—teachers showing up for students, students supporting each other, and partnerships growing stronger with our families and community.

We appreciate this moment and will continue to strengthen our partnerships so students at Greenspun feel seen, valued, and successful.

To our military families - thank you. We are grateful for your service and for the trust you place in us each day. Please know that we are proud to support your children.

Scoliosis Screening: Postural screening, as required by Nevada State Law, will be conducted by school nurses in your child’s school on Thursday April 9, 2026; this screening is only for 6th grade girls and 8th grade boys. The purpose of postural screening is to detect signs of abnormal spinal development so that the need for treatment can be determined. For this screening, boys and girls will be seen separately. Privacy will be maintained within the constraints of the school setting. Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. Most cases of spinal curvature are mild, but may become progressively more severe as the child continues to grow. Early treatment can prevent the development of a severe deformity, which can later affect the health and appearance of the child. You will be notified only if a possible abnormality is observed and follow-up is necessary. This screening does not replace your child’s need for regular health care and check-ups. If you do not want your child to have a postural screening at school, please notify the school nurse at ebertr@nv.ccsd.net

Best Buddies: Stop by the table outside the cafeteria during all 3 lunches on Thursday April 9th to pledge to include all. Sign the poster and receive a sticker!
