Principal's Message
A quote that I hold dear to my heart when I think about teachers is one that was said by American Historian Henry Adams nearly one hundred years ago because it still rings true today. Adams eloquently stated, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”
I am sure that we can all think of a teacher or two who we will always remember because they impacted our lives in positive ways. My memorable teacher was Ms. Cuomo, who taught tenth grade English. She opened my mind to the many life-long lessons we could learn through literature, and it was because of her that I became an English teacher.
Students and parents, next week is Teacher’s Appreciation Week. Our teachers work tirelessly to educate, inspire, and shape the minds of our students in a positive way, and I value their dedication to their profession and to Greenspun.
I am hoping that you will take the time to let your teachers know that you appreciate them. Looking back, I wish I would have had the opportunity to let Ms. Cuomo know how much I valued her. I know it would have meant a lot to her, just like your words of appreciation would mean a lot to them.

Soccer Season: The girls soccer team came in 4th in their division, which is awesome. They practiced and played hard this season. Make sure you congratulate any girl soccer player and Coach Sakola on a great season! The boys came in first in their division! They went 12-0 for the season! They will move on to the Boys Soccer Championships next week at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex. The first game will be Tuesday, May 7, at 4:45 p.m.
Jazz Band Auditions: Attention all drummers, guitarists, bassists and pianists! Would you like to learn a new style of music? Would you like to join an award-winning group of gifted young musicians? The Greenspun Jazz Band will be holding auditions after school May 13th-16th. See Mr. Martinez in room 602 before or after school for audition materials!
Yearbooks: Yearbooks will be distributed on Friday, May 10th during 5th period for 6th & 7th grade. 8th grade students who ordered a yearbook will receive their yearbook at the 8th grade signing party during 6th period. If you still need a yearbook you can see the banker to purchase one for $55.
8th Grade Dance: 8th Grade Dance-Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 1st. Last day to purchase dance tickets is May 15th. Get them before the line gets long. See the school banker to purchase your tickets.
Webstore: The online webstore continues to be upgraded by CCSD, but may be inaccessible for an indefinite amount of time. We apologize for this inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to accept cash or personal check payments in person. BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school? For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day. All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities.
