Principal’s Message:

Student safety before and after school has become a growing concern. Even one bike-related accident is too many! Our number one priority is to keep our students safe and reinforce rules that students should follow while riding their bikes, scooters, or skateboards.
We are also asking for your help at home because we have witnessed many students disregarding bike safety guidelines on their way to and from school, especially when they are crossing our busy parking lot driveways. We encourage you to review the following bike safety guidelines with your children:
Wear a helmet
Look both ways and watch for cars before crossing driveways and streets
Refrain from horseplay while riding
Focus on your surroundings
Follow the directions of crossing guards
Walk bikes, instead of riding them, while on school property
In addition, we urge parents who are dropping off or picking up their children to observe the rules of the road. A busy school zone can be dangerous if drivers aren’t paying close attention or become impatient. A simple moment of distraction can have serious consequences.
So drivers, please be patient and adhere to the following:
Refrain from making U-turns in front of the school, parking illegally, or blocking crosswalks
Observe the school zone speed limit and slow down
Avoid distractions, like cell phone usage, while driving
Keep a vigilant lookout for the whereabouts of the kid
Pay attention and follow the traffic light signals and the crossing guards’ directions.
We understand mornings and afternoons can be hectic, but no appointment or schedule is more important than a child’s safety. This is a reminder that we should all commit to safer habits—on bikes and behind the wheel—so we can keep our kids safe and prevent further accidents.

Find Your Voice: Join Speech & Debate! Looking for an opportunity to build confidence, communication skills, and critical-thinking abilities? Join Speech & Debate! Speech & Debate gives students the opportunity to practice expressing ideas clearly, thinking on their feet, listening to different perspectives, and speaking confidently in front of others. Students will also learn how to research topics, support their ideas with evidence, and communicate effectively. These skills will benefit them throughout middle school, high school, college, and future careers. Students do not need to be experienced public speakers to participate. Speech & Debate is a welcoming opportunity for all students to challenge themselves, discover their strengths, and develop skills they can use both inside and outside the classroom. Whether your student loves to debate, enjoys telling stories, is passionate about a particular topic, or simply wants to become more confident speaking in front of others, there is a place for them in Speech & Debate! I encourage all students to give Speech & Debate a try and discover the power of their voice!
