Principal’s Message:

Dear Greenspun Families,
One of our main initiatives at Greenspun Junior High School is to foster a positive, safe, and supportive school culture where every student feels valued. An important part of this work is creating opportunities for their voices to be heard.
As part of our ongoing school-wide initiative, we recently held our first Student Town Hall Meeting. Led in partnership with the CCSD Safe and Respectful Learning Environment, Education Services, and Equity and Diversity, the event brought together approximately 40 students and staff.
Our goal was simple: to give students a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives about their school experience.
During the discussion, our students offered valuable insight on several key topics:
Trusted Campus Connections: Students identified their go-to staff members—the teachers and team members who make them feel safe, valued, and supported every day.
Mutual Respect: A strong theme emerged that respect between teachers and students is earned and must be mutual to build strong relationships.
Engaging Classrooms: Students shared what makes them excited to come to class—highlighting positive teachers, high engagement, and lessons that clearly connect learning to their daily lives.
A Culture of Kindness: Participants emphasized the simple, yet powerful, impact that everyday kindness between students and staff has on our overall school environment.
To conclude the event, students and teachers had the opportunity to “break bread” together, enjoying snacks while engaging in informal conversations and deeper reflection.
Looking ahead, our school administration and teacher leaders will meet with our CCSD partners to analyze the key insights from this Town Hall. We are excited to use our students’ feedback to help inform our school improvement plan and continue building a school environment where every student feels safe, valued, respected, and supported.
Thank you to our Town Hall participants for sharing their voices, and as always, to our Greenspun families for your continued support.
