Principal's Message:


Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

As we move towards the end of the first nine weeks, now is a great time for a progress monitoring check with your child, especially when it comes to attendance because every day counts. Consistent school attendance gives students a better chance to enrich their academic success, to develop their social skills, and to learn how to establish routines and positive habits that will serve them well throughout their lives.

We understand that occasional absences for illness or unexpected family emergencies happen. If you are in the midst of a challenge, please contact our attendance office so we can assist you in the necessary steps to excuse your child’s absences, develop a plan for them to access missed instruction, and provide them with the opportunity to complete make-up work.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of attending school, and we will continue to work with you to ensure that your child has a positive, safe, and productive learning experience during their middle school years.




Events & Honors:


8th Grade PSAT testing: All 8th-grade students will participate in the PSAT 8/9 test on Wednesday, October 16. Here are a few items to prepare your child for the test!

  • Please encourage your child to eat a healthy breakfast or snack on the morning of the test.

  • 8th graders will take the test in their first-period classes (unless their teacher tells them to report to another testing room).

  • All students must have their ID cards and lanyards

  • Test time is from 8:00 a.m. through 11:20 a.m.

  • The test has four sections to complete in a set timeframe. Students who finish each section before the timeframe can read a book or a magazine (Chromebooks and electronic devices are not allowed during the test)

Support for Jacob Aguilar: Jacob’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all of the kind words, letters, and donations during this difficult time.  His mom has enjoyed reading all of the heartfelt messages that they have received while Jacob awaits surgery.  If you would like to send a card or letter in support of Jacob’s family, they may be dropped off at the front office. Fall Spirit Week: We will be kicking off the start to Fall with a Spirit Week. We look forward to seeing all who participate!



Colorguard Tryouts: Color Guard tryouts are Tuesday 9/24 and Wednesday 9/25 in the gym from 2:30-4:30. Please make sure your color guard packet is completed and turned in by Tuesday 9/24 to receive your tryout number. If you have an isssue attending one of those days please discuss that with Ms. Brittany or Ms. Floyd.


Cheer Clinic: Interested in Cheerleading?  Join us October 26th for the Greenspun Cheer Clinic to learn a routine that you will perform at our last Flag Football home game.  Register today on the Greenspun Cheer webpage.  Let's Go Dolphins!



Picture Retake Day: Picture Retake Day is Friday, September 27th in the Little Theater. Did you miss picture day or want to take a new picture? If we did not see you on picture day or you would like a new image, Dorian Studio will be taking pictures at your school again soon. Do not miss out on ordering pictures of your student. Orders may be placed online by searching for your school name at mydorian.com and selecting the green Order button next to your school retake day event. Online orders are available up to 4 days after retake day. If you already ordered and want a new picture taken please be sure to return your original picture packet to the photographer on retake day. Order forms are located in the back office.


SOT: Voting is now OPEN for 2024-2025 Parent SOT representatives!  Only votes from a legal parent/guardian of a child currently attending Greenspun JHS will be counted.  Ballots will be verified with the email address on file for parent/guardian contact information in Infinite Campus. Scholastic Book Fair: The Fall 2024 Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library from September 30 - October 1!  Please help support the reading programs here at Greenspun by shopping at our fair in the library, or online!  Parents can add funds to a child’s Scholastic eWallet to shop at the fair.  Credit, debit, Apple Pay, and Google Pay also accepted at the Scholastic Book Fair! Webstore: The online webstore continues to be upgraded by CCSD, but may be inaccessible for an indefinite amount of time.  We apologize for this inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to accept cash or personal check payments in person.  Please contact Christina Ortiz, GJHS banker, if you need any assistance.

Absence notes: Parents, please submit absence notes within three days, by clicking on the Attendance icon on our homepage at greenspunjhs.com. 


BIRTHDAY GREETINGS:  Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school?  For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day.  All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities. CLICK HERE to submit a birthday greeting for your child!



Infinite Campus Parent portal/Student portal: Parents, please continue to monitor your child’s grades in Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  If you need an activation code, please contact the office for assistance.
