Principal’s Message:

Celebrating Our Green Valley Connection

Some school traditions remind us that education extends beyond our own school walls. Our connection with Green Valley High School is one of those special traditions, and one I am incredibly proud to celebrate.

This year marks 35 years since both Greenspun Junior High School and Green Valley High School opened their doors to students. For 35 years, our schools have been connected, not only because many of our students continue their educational journey at Green Valley, but through the relationships and traditions we have built together.

This year, I was honored to represent our Greenspun community as the Grand Marshal of Green Valley High School’s annual Homecoming Parade. This was especially meaningful to me because I had the privilege of opening the school as an English teacher during its inaugural year and spending more than 20 years there as both a teacher and administrator. To return as the principal of Greenspun Junior High and represent our community in this celebration was truly special.

Even more special was our middle school participation in this wonderful celebration. The Greenspun cheerleaders, Student Council, and band marched in the parade. In addition, our talented band performed alongside the Green Valley High School band at the football game. Their collaboration reflected the strong partnership between our schools and the support shared across our programs.

As I took part in this year's Homecoming celebration, I carried with me the wonderful memories of my years at Green Valley, the pride of our community, and a deep appreciation for the connections our schools have built over the past 35 years.

Thirty-five years, two schools, one community—and a shared commitment to our students.

It was truly a special occasion as Green Valley celebrated their alumni, and Greenspun students proudly joined the homecoming festivities alongside their future high school classmates.

Events & Honors:

School Organizational Team: Voting for SOT parent representatives is extended until Sunday, September 27 at 11:59pm to allow time for all parents/guardians to cast their votes for SOT parent representatives. The next Greenspun JHS SOT meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 14 in the library. Click here for GJHS SOT information.

Operation Homefront: Nominations are currently open for Operation Homefront's Military Child of the Year® Awards! Every year Operation Homefront hosts the Military Child of the Year® Awards. The awards are open to military children between the ages of 13-18. There are 7 recipients— one child from each branch of service, and each recipient receives $10,000 CASH, a laptop, other donated goodies, and a 3-day trip to Washington, D.C. with their families. Children are entered by nominations. Anyone that knows a military child can nominate any military child. The awards are open to Active Duty, reserves, Gold Star, National Guard, AND retired military children. The program is entirely FREE and exclusive to military children, and you do not need to create an account to submit a nomination. Nominations can be made at https://operationhomefront.org/military-child-of-the-year/ and they will remain open until December 1st!

Cheer: Come out to support GJHS Cheer this week. Raider's Representatives will be at the flag football game on Tuesday, September 29th. Wear Black and Green to support the team. Then on Wednesday dine with the Cheer Team at Chipotle on Sunset from 4-8pm. Cheerleaders will be there at 4:30. Finally go to the GJHS Cheer Website to register for our Fall Cheer Clinic on Saturday October 17th. You will learn a routine and perform at half time during the October 19th game. Show your Dolphin Pride during all our upcoming events. Gooo Dolphins!

Flag Football: Join us next Tuesday for an exciting Flag Football showdown as Greenspun takes on Mannion MS! To celebrate the game, we are thrilled to welcome Raiders Alumnus, Napoleon McCallum, who will be in attendance with special giveaways for players and fans. Admission is free so bring your family and friends to support our students and show your school pride. Let's make it a game to remember - Go Greenspun!

Asian Cultural Club: Are you interested in learning about different Asian cultures, traditions, food, music, and celebrations? Then come join the Asian Cultural Club! This is a great opportunity to meet new friends, share your culture, learn about others, and have fun together. Everyone is welcome, whether you are Asian or simply interested in learning more about Asian cultures. If you would like to join, please come see us at Room 339. We hope to see you there!

Period 5 - Hugo R. with 227, Cole W. with 210, Jack C. with 158 and class shout out to the highest total...Bob Pickleton with a total of 170,245.
Wrapping up the day is Period 6 with Sutton at 505, Adrian 529, Jeremiah 129, Sophia, 128, and Daija with 127.

Using Hazel Health in the health office allows your student to talk to a Doctor and receive approved over the counter medication when needed.
