Students who are designated as ELL are scheduled to participate in the yearly spring administration of the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment to determine their progress in English language acquisition. The WIDA ACCESS for ELLs is a standardized language proficiency assessment that measures each student's ability to communicate in English. The assessment has four parts: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In the state of Nevada, a student is considered proficient when they receive an overall composite score of 4.5 or higher. This is a federally-mandated assessment that all ELL students must complete. This test is ONLY for those students who are designated as ELL (English Language Learner).
The WIDA testing schedule is as follows:
Group 1 Jan 28-29: Last name ACUN - CASTA
Group 2 Jan 30-31: Last name CASTI - GONZ
Group 3 Feb. 4-5: Last name GRAN - LOPE
Group 4 Feb. 6-7: Last name MANA - ORTI
Group 5 Feb. 11-12: Last name PADI - ROBL
Group 6 Feb. 13-14: Last name RODR - VASA
Students report to the library at 8:00am on each of their testing days, and will return to class when they complete each part of the test (usually 1-2 hours). The testing schedule is also posted in the library windows for students to review their testing times.
