Principal’s Message:

Your Voice Matters!
I want to take a moment to highlight the importance of our partnership with families—especially when it comes to shaping the future of our schools. By taking the CCSD survey, included in this newsletter, you can share what you see, what you need, and what you hope for in your child’s education.
As CCSD works on a long-term strategic plan, we want it to reflect the experiences of the people who know our students best: their families, their teachers, and the community that supports them. Your perspective helps us understand what’s working, where we need to improve, and how we can create schools that genuinely serve every learner.
To keep that work moving, we’re asking all families to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your voice matters more than you might realize. It helps CCSD make informed decisions and stay aligned with what our community values most.
Thank you for being an active, valued part of our community and for all the ways you support our school.
Destination District Survey: Working together, every student in the Clark County School District (CCSD) will succeed. We want every student, family, and employee to feel proud to call CCSD home. To get there, CCSD is co-designing a long-term strategic plan that seeks to:
Keep Students at the Center: Ensure every learner is challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed through high school graduation and into the workforce.
Value Our People: Foster pride and purpose so every student, family, employee, and partner chooses CCSD's schools with confidence.
Build Community and Trust: Strengthen the community relationships and partnerships that move us forward.
Create Clarity and Momentum: Define our shared direction and align our efforts to move forward, together.
Events & Honors:
MAP Testing: MAP testing begins November 18-19 in ELA classes, and December 3-4 for Math classes. Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a computer-adaptive assessment utilized to monitor student growth to inform and personalize instruction. Traffic Safety: With an increased focus on traffic safety in the community following several tragic traffic collisions this year, I would like to take a moment to remind families about the importance of obeying laws in school zones. Whether walking, driving, or riding a bike or scooter, we all play a role in keeping our roads safe.
For Drivers: School zones are in effect 30 minutes before school and 30 minutes after children are dismissed. During those times, it is against Nevada law to:
Make a U-turn.
Exceed the posted school zone speed limit.
Pass another vehicle, even if that vehicle slows down or stops.
Stop, back over, or park within 20 feet of a crosswalk.
It is also illegal to stop in the middle of the road or in other prohibited areas, such as red curbs, to pick up or drop off a passenger.
For Pedestrians and Cyclists: Whether walking or riding a bike, it is essential to be visible, alert, and watchful for vehicles.
When crossing roads:
Always stop and check for traffic in both directions.
Make eye contact and wave to drivers.
Watch for cars that may be hidden behind other cars.
Cross at intersections and marked crosswalks.
No matter how you are travelling, avoid distractions and be predictable. While distracted driving is illegal, if you are walking while distracted, you may not hear or see approaching traffic, or you may miss an obstacle in your path. The Clark County School District Safe Routes to School Department provides tips and information on road safety for students of all ages. You can access resources by clicking here. Please call the school’s main office at 702 799-0920 with any questions or concerns.
NJHS Book Drive: Do you have old children’s books collecting dust on your shelves? Want to make a difference in another kid’s life just by cleaning out your bookshelf? Greenspun Junior High’s National Junior Honor Society is hosting a Book Drive to support Spread the Word Nevada, the state’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit! We’re collecting new and gently used books for Pre-K through 5th grade readers — especially chapter books for 4th and 5th graders. You can drop off your donations in Mrs. Hoeg’s room, Room 323, from November 5th through November 19th. Our goal is to collect 200 books to help kids across Nevada fall in love with reading. Plus, the top 3 donators will win prizes! Check your shelves, bring in your books, and help us make a difference, one book at a time!

Student Teachers Graduation: Greenspun’s UNLV Student Teachers presented their final capstone projects last week and are about to conclude their student teaching experience and receive their Bachelors in Education.
