Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci GJHS Principal

Holidays give us a chance to pause, but they also give us an opportunity to reflect. Too often, students see them as just a day off from school—but behind each holiday is a lesson worth remembering.

This Monday, January 20, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a leader who dedicated his life to justice, fairness, and peace. Known for his wisdom, courage, and commitment to equality, Dr. King inspired change through education, nonviolence, and compassion, as he continually reminded us with his powerful words: “The time is always right to do what is right.”

This week, as we celebrate Peace Week, we can connect Dr. King’s message to our daily lives. It’s a time to think about how we treat others, how we stand up for what is right, and how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect in our school and community.

We encourage our students to take this week to practice empathy, kindness, and respect. Whether it’s helping a classmate, speaking kindly, or standing up for fairness, every action matters. By living these values, we honor Dr. King’s legacy and bring his dream of a more peaceful, just world to life—right here at school.

Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow into caring, thoughtful, and responsible members of our community, as we strive to keep the spirit of Dr. King’s message alive every day.

Events & Honors:

CCSD Peace Week: January 19–23, 2026, is designated as Peace Week in the State of Nevada. Peace education aspires to enable students to become responsible citizens who are open to differences and capable of empathy and solidarity within and across communities and social groups. The focus extends to deconstructing the foundations of violence and taking action to advance the prospects of peace.
