Principal’s Message:

Jackie Carducci. GJHS Principal
Jackie Carducci. GJHS Principal

Oftentimes, when people discover that I am a principal, they shake their heads in disapproval and say, “Kids these days. I don’t know how you deal with them.”

I shake my head right back and exclaim, “I respectfully disagree with you. Kids these days are amazing!”

I know that you have heard me say this time and time again because our students never cease to amaze me.

The GJHS Drama Club, for example, under the direction of English teacher Ms. Jennifer Carroll, presented a wonderful two day performance called, “What Alice Saw There,” by Kyle Olsen, for the school community. The acting, props, and the portrayal of humor in the play were outstanding as our students rocked their performances from beginning to end. Congratulations, Drama Club! It was a pleasure to watch your performances. You made me proud!

In addition, a huge congratulations to our Junior Varsity Quiz team, under the direction of Librarian Andrew Slocum, for winning the CCSD JV Quiz Virtual Championship. I was amazed at how brilliant these kids were as they not only correctly answered question after question, but also accumulated points on the bonus rounds, earning a score of 150 - 70 over their opponents.Their commitment to academic excellence and teamwork was truly commendable.

But wait! It doesn’t stop there…Student Council recently earned the Spirit Award—thank you students  for helping to build such a positive and spirited school environment; our Colorguard has earned numerous awards at various competitions; our Performing Arts have earned superior ratings at CCSD Festivals and are now preparing for their upcoming band, choir, and orchestra spring concerts;  and our men's and women's soccer teams are doing well as they compete against schools across CCSD.

These accomplishments are just a snapshot of the great things happening here every day. So when I hear someone negatively commenting, “Kids these days,” I will always respond the same way—”Yes, kids these days are amazing,” because I see firsthand just how amazing they are each and every day.

Events & Honors:

JVQ: Congratulations to the GJHS JV Quiz team for winning the CCSD JV Quiz virtual league championship on Friday, April 10, versus Garside Junior High.  Greenspun won 150-70 after three rounds of challenging questions about mathematics, literature, geography, pop culture, and more!  The match was hosted by Nate Tannenbaum, and will be televised on Vegas PBS KLVX Channel 10 on May 18, 2026, and will also be featured on the Vegas PBS Youtube channel: youtube.com/@vegaspbs  Congratulations to you all!

Robotics: Greenspun Robotics Makes History Again!  On March 28, your Greenspun Dolphins once again made history! Team C became the first team at any level to win the CREATE U.S. Championship, competing against teams from all 50 states and more than ten invited countries—an extraordinary accomplishment on a national and international stage. In addition, it is rare for a single program to earn multiple major awards at this event, and Team A rose to the occasion by earning one of the competition’s highest honors: the Sportsmanship Award. We are incredibly proud of our legacy of excellence and the way these young engineers continue to represent Greenspun and Nevada as leaders in robotics. Their innovation, teamwork, and character are truly putting our program on the map. Congratulations to these outstanding students on their historic achievements!
