Principal's Message:
YES!!! The cool weather is finally here, and with it comes the wonderful fall air, orange-colored leaves, holiday planning, and the aroma of pumpkin spice!
But, let’s not get lost in the season. Before the holidays take over our thoughts, it’s time for us to take a progress check on how we are performing at school. Are our daily routines effective, and are we reaching our goals?
Students, staff, and families, now is the time to set our fall focus goals.
What big skill or concept will we master before winter break?
What daily habits will we refine to improve our overall performance?
What effort or accomplishment will we celebrate?
Setting both work and celebration goals is key to a healthy mindset as we move toward the holiday season. If we can keep our focus on school during the next few months, think how much more we can fully enjoy the holiday celebrations later!
Now, it’s time for me to end this principal’s message so I can grab a Pumpkin Spice Latte and work on my own fall goals. I encourage you to do the same!
Events & Honors:
Spelling Bee: Congratulations to 6th grader Charlotte Williams, and 7th grader, Natalia Klestinec, who placed in the top fifteen spellers in their respective grade levels in the entire Clark County School District! Charlotte and Natalia both advance to the semifinal round at the Vegas PBS KLVX studios on November 19. Charlotte and Natalia, you are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!
Girls Basketball: Attention all Lady Dolphins who are interested in playing basketball. Girls Basketball Intramurals is just around the corner. Girls Basketball Intramurals will start on Tuesday, October 28. Girls Basketball Intramurals is open to any and all girls. No basketball experience is needed. Girls Basketball Intramurals will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 to 4:00 PM. The late bus will be available. Come to the gym dressed in shorts and a t-shirt ready to work hard. If you have any questions see Coach Jackson in Room 205. Hope to see you there and Go Dolphins!
Fall Talent Show: Greenspun is hosting a fall talent show on Thursday, November 6th at 2:15 and 6pm. Come check out the amazing talent that we have at Greenspun. Tickets are $2 for students, $4 for adults and $8 for a family of 4.
Robotics Tournament: This past Saturday, Greenspun hosted the robotics season opener, Dawn of the Robots, and your dolphins didn't disappoint! Five teams made it to the finals; team 11110B won the Judges Award, team 11110Y came in 2nd place in the Teamwork Challenge, and team 11110C blew everyone away, winning two of the top awards: Teamwork Champions and the Design Award. We are proud of all our teams and can't wait to see them shine this season.
Road to Proficiency Initiative: GJHS is focusing on Power Words as part of our Dolphins Dive In: Road to Proficiency initiative. You will see these words throughout your classes, and will encounter them on tests and quizzes throughout the school year. Practice these words in class and at home for the chance to win some cool prizes!
Cool Weather PE Uniforms: Cooler weather is finally here! Students that need warmer uniforms for PE can purchase PE sweatshirts ($14) and PE sweatpants ($16) online or in person with the banker before school or after school. Students, please bring your receipt to your PE teacher to receive your PE sweats uniform.
8th Grade Disneyland Field Trip: Only 29 spots available for the 8th grade trip to Disneyland on 5/11/26. The trip packets can be picked up in the back office. The field trip forms and the deposit of $85 must be turned in to our School Banker to secure your spot. Any student who signs up after the initial 100 will be placed on a waiting list. Webstore: The online webstore is now available! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to add items for payment. Parents and guardians must create an account and add their child with a student ID number before they can make payments on the webstore. CLICK HERE to visit the new online webstore!
Absence notes: Parents, please submit absence notes within three days, by clicking on the Attendance icon on our homepage at greenspunjhs.com.
BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: Do you want an easy and fun way to celebrate your child's birthday at school? For $15, we will display a short message on the outdoor digital marquee to help celebrate the day. Additionally, a bag of treats and a personalized birthday card will be delivered to your child during the school day. All funds raised help support Greenspun clubs and activities.
