Principal’s Message:

Hey All…it's that time of year again! Get ready to take a journey into a bright, happy, colorful room full of adventures, mysteries, romance, sci-fi…there is something for everyone, and it begins on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025. It’s the annual Scholastic book fair, and it is a wonderful opportunity to get our kids to read.
Students often tell me how much they dislike reading. My reply to them is, “You just haven’t found the right book.”
This is where I begin a conversation with them, explaining the many reasons I love to read. Then I promise them that if they find the right book, they might just feel the same way.
To this day, I tell students that I love to read because I get to travel the world through pages of a book. I get to experience different voices, time periods and cultures. I get to escape from the unending demands of life and get lost in the intricate journeys of characters who have to overcome challenges, just like we all do in our daily lives.
And then, we talk about how characters resolve their conflicts and learn lifelong lessons that can help them see things in a new way. I emphasize how much we can learn from the characters that we fall in love with as we get to know them through the written word.
“The right book,” I explain, “has the power to stir your soul. It might make you laugh, cry, smile, or simply stop and think. Its characters invite you into their worlds, teaching you to see life from their perspective—and that understanding will help you grow, not just as a reader, but as a human.
It’s all about finding the right book! You just have to look, and you’ll discover the joy of reading. What better place to begin than our Greenspun Library Book Fair, where you can begin your next great adventure!
